Season 1 Episode 9
Why did Koenig, a former Pack enforcer, decide to go against Jeremy at Daniel Santos’s bidding? The episode ended without an answer to this question, but it did show some interesting bits. Antonio left the Pack when he was young, but he returned after the birth of Nick and never spoke of or to Nick’s mother again. Koenig made Antonio kill a mutt for kicks, when he was sent to bring Antonio back into the Pack. Jeremy was physically strong and a good fighter, despite his injury. This was the second time we were shown Jeremy fighting an enemy, which was good to see since the alpha status was attained and maintained by virtue of strength. Jeremy risked his life and almost allowed Koenig to kill him to give Nick a chance to finish off the man who once had brutal fun at the expense of his father. Werewolves could not stop the transformation when they were already mid change, except for Elena, who was able to do it. Daniel Santos must know something about Elena, because he was furious when LeBlanc went after her.
Vengeance was an episode that consisted mostly of fighting, and Clay trying to get to the fight. There were four Pack members and only two enemies, so the Pack members were separated as they searched for Koenig, for tension, I suppose. There was also a random blonde who was shot instead of Elena, and who coincidentally wore almost an identical outfit. It was so Clay would have his heart ripped off when he thought Elena had been shot. The fight scenes were fine, but the staging when the Pack was separated was a bit clumsily executed. Still, I can imagine that Bitten does not have the budget that most Hollywood productions do so what they did here was still good.
With Koenig defeated and LeBlanc in Santos’s cage, Jeremy and Nick had time to scatter Antonio’s ashes at his estate. Left by themselves at the mansion, Elena and Clay finally did what they have been so close to doing since Elena returned to Stonehaven, and sh gged. Back in Toronto, Logan was able to ease Philip’s mind off the thought that he and cousin Elena were sh gging. No Philip, Elena is sh gging someone else. Philip saw the Danvers photograph at Logan’s, and asked who the hot guy seated next to Elena was. Logan said it was their cousin Clay. Philip would meet him soon enough, since Jeremy decreed that, because of the threats against the Pack, if Elena were to return to Toronto, Clay would go with her.
Vengeance used the fight against Koenig to show what I imagine would become important later on --- that Elena could stop herself mid change and remain human. The mythology of Bitten has trickled down slowly so I look forward to learning how Elena’s new power would impact the story.
Strays
■ I would never swim naked with any of my male cousins. I’m just saying, Logan.
■ Someone knew about Logan and Rachel’s baby before they told anyone about it. A gift was left at their doorstep. It made him delay his trip to Stonehaven, for clearly someone was watching them.
■ LeBlanc bit Amber, who was going through an excruciating transformation.
■ Daniel Santos was keeping Joey Stillwell in a cage.
■ Victor Campos has been turned into a werewolf.
■ Nate, the supposed owner of the wolf video, has disappeared. The super said the apartment was owned by an old lady who passed away a month previously. Philip’s wolf video subplot is becoming interesting.
