Bitten Recap 'A Quiet Dog'

Season 3 Episode 4

The best thing about A Quiet Dog is that the mystery that has hovered over Bitten since its inception was finally answered. How did Elena survive the werewolf bite when no other female had before her? According to Konstantin, it was because Elena was the child of parents both descended from werewolf lines. Sasha, her father, was a werewolf. Natalya, her mother, was Roman the Russian Alpha’s daughter.

It was Natalya’s death on Roman’s hands that started the blood feud between Roman and Sasha. Sasha was tasked by Roman to look after his human daughter Natalya. Sasha and Natalya fell in love. Sasha showed Natalya, either accidentally or on purpose, it was not made clear, that he was a werewolf. Because of the werewolf law that humans who knew about werewolves needed to die, Roman killed his own daughter. He blamed Sasha for this. If Sasha had not exposed Natalya to the werewolf secret, Roman would not have found it necessary to kill her.

Jeremy’s proposal was for Roman to walk away from his decades long feud with Sasha. In exchange, Jeremy would provide him with plates he could use to create counterfeit funds, thus solving his financial issues with his district leaders. Roman pretended to agree, then attacked both Jeremy and Sasha. Roman had a blade hidden in his person which he used to his advantage against the already wounded Sasha.

To further complicate matters, ex sheriff Karen had one of the Russian werewolves’ plates ran, then tracked them to the warehouse that belonged to the Sorrentinos where Jeremy, Sasha and Roman’s meeting was taking place. Karen saw Alexei change for the first time, then walked into the very room where Roman was fighting Jeremy and Sasha. Roman turned to Karen, injured her gravely, then took the briefcase with the counterfeit material and ran.

This is Bitten’s best episode so far this season, an episode that finally gave some answers and ended with sufficiently tantalising cliffhangers. Did Alexei kill a human whilst in wolf form for the first time? Who was it? Where was Roman, Konstantin and their crew going? What would Jeremy do to Karen, when he finds out that she saw Alexei transform into a wolf?

■ The killing of humans who knew about werewolves was an odd law, because it rested on the premise that humans could not be trusted with the werewolf secret whilst those who survived the turn, could. I suppose the harshness of the law was meant as a deterrent, a warning to all werewolves to keep the secret, otherwise, even humans they loved would be killed.

■ Jeremy’s reason for his actions with regard to Sasha, that could be construed as against Roman, was that Roman attacked members of his Pack.

■ Katia was rightfully worried about her future. After Roman got away, Jeremy ordered Nick to take Katia to a safehouse, away from Stonehaven.

■ It was notable that there were no newcomers to Jeremy’s Pack involved in this episode.
