The Borgias Recap 'Siblings'

Image from The Borgias, streamed via iFlix
Season 3 Episode 3

It has been quite a while since I last watched an episode of The Borgias and wrote a recap. I have been wanting to recap the third episode of the third season, the only The Borgias episode I have yet to recap, yet my real life responsibilities pulled me away from this blog for too long. I am back now, as you can see from the number of new posts of late. I intend to continue trying to figure out a way to balance my full time job and blogging.

Marco Polo Recap 'Feast'

Image from Marco Polo, streamed via Netflix
Season 1 Episode 3

For the second episode in a row, Marco's words got someone killed. In the second episode, Marco's enthused description of how a tribe creatively pays their taxes exposed Sanga's corruption, and led to his death. Here, Marco painted a pretty picture of the feast Kublai's cousin Kaidu (who inherited Ariq's lands and army) threw for the Khan. Kublai knew Marco's words to be lies, for an emotional Jingim already came to him to complain. For the sin of hearing Marco's lies, the servant who stood nearby got his head bashed in. Marco did not escape unscathed, for as he rode out with his guilt, he investigated the tree where the Blue Princess has been leaving trinkets, and got himself bitten by a vicious looking snake.

Marco Polo Recap 'The Wolf and the Deer'

Image from Marco Polo, streamed via Netflix
Season 1 Episode 2

To be honest, the first time I watched Marco Polo, I feel asleep a few times during this episode. That is not a commentary on the overall quality of the episode, simply how tired I was when I initially watched this. As such, when I re-watched this episode so I could write this recap, it was actually the first time I saw the fight between Kublai and Ariq.

Marco Polo Recap 'The Wayfarer'

Image from Marco Polo, streamed via Netflix
Season 1 Episode 1

It has been so long since I last wrote a recap, I don't even know where to begin. So, I'll just get on it.

I avoided Marco Polo for a long time because of the rough reviews I read of it. I wish I could claim not to be affected by reviews but the truth is, given how little time I have outside of work, I do use reviews and word of mouth as filter in deciding what to watch. Thankfully, I did get around to watching Marco Polo, and I am glad I did. Is it a brilliant show? I wouldn't go that far. Is it immensely watchable? Absolutely. Is it peopled with compelling characters wonderfully performed? Yes.
